Student Grade Level Compentencies

Kindergarten Competencies

The following student competencies will be developed through classroom guidance lessons led by the counselor

Kindergarten students will:

  • Display a positive interest in learning.
  • Take pride in work and achievement
  • Develop a positive attitude toward work and learning
  • Develop positive attitudes toward self as a unique and worthy person
  • Identify and express feelings
  • Distinguish between appropriate and inappropriate behavior
  • Recognize everyone has rights and responsibilities
  • Learn how to make and keep friends
  • Demonstrate when, where and how to seek help for solving problems and making decisions
  • Demonstrate knowledge of personal information (telephone number, home address, emergency contact)
  • Learn the difference between appropriate and inappropriate physical contact
  • Identify resource people in the school and community, and know how to seek their help
